When Is Module 1 Offered?
Overview
This training will summarize a basic introduction to Internal Family Systems (IFS) theory and demonstrate practical IFS informed clinical interventions into Phases 1-4 of EMDR.
This course is open to all licensed psychologists, social workers, mental health therapists, and marriage and family therapists who have completed their basic EMDR training, no prior IFS Integrating IFS training is required; however, it is welcome.

Learning Objectives
1. Identify the basic assumptions of the Internal Family Systems (IFS) Model.
2. Summarize the goals of the IFS Model.
3. Recognize the three categories of parts based on the IFS Model.
4. Explain the role of Self in the internal family system.
5. Identify the qualities of Self.
6.
Explore their own parts and their own connection to Self through parts mapping and guided meditation.
7. Apply at least one resource technique as utilized by IFS therapy in Phase Two of EMDR.
8. Identify one question used by IFS therapists in the assessment phase to determine readiness for processing.
9. Demonstrate the ability to effectively use a parts map with clients to explore protectors, exiles, and first responders (aka firefighters) in the internal family system.
10. Demonstrate the ability to guide clients towards accessing Self Energy through guided meditation.
11. Describe the relationship between the parts in IFS therapy and the autonomic nervous system.
12. List two IFS informed clinical interventions used with clients when they get “stuck” during processing.
